Philadelphia Water Color Society
Join us as Steven Quiller takes participants through many of the important aspects the painter should consider in developing the best arrangement of shapes on the picture plane with each painting that they do. This is not a formula since each painting needs its own unique arrangement of shapes to best express the artist’s concepts and ideas.
Black Mountain Blacklight by Stephen Quiller
Aspects such as inspiration format, positive/negative space, geometric motif, rhythm/beat, pattern repetition and transition plus many more subjects will be shown using master paintings. Examples from the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibition – 2020 will be used that represent 10 watercolor societies in the West. Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Nevada, Colorado, and Oregon are represented. The selected pieces are the award winners from this show. Mr. Quiller will take the participants through each of the award-winning paintings and explain why he selected each one. His descriptions will show how many of the composition aspects discussed earlier are evident in these works. This session will help anyone wanting to fine tune their work.
