Q: Who can enter the 2020 PWCS Member Show?

The 2020 PWCS Member Show is open only to associate, signature and lifetime members of the Philadephia Watercolor Society. 


Q: What kind of artwork is eligible for entry?

All work must be original and on or of paper. Water media, drawings, hand pulled prints, and pastels are acceptable. Collage elements must be of paper, and any image or color on collage papers must be the work of the artist. 

Entries must be no older than 3 years (completed in 2017 or more recently), and must not have been done under teacher supervision. All works must be original.

Q: Is there an entry fee?

The entry fee is $15 per artist, for a maximum of 2 paintings. 

Q: When can I submit my entry?

The entries may be submitted any time from January 1, 2020 through February 1, 2020, and all entries must be received by the end of the day (11:59pm EST) on Saturday, February 1, 2020 to be considered for the show.

Q: What are the Show dates?

The Show will be online from March 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021.

Q: What should I keep in mind while preparing digital files of my artwork for the submission?

  • File format - JPEG saved as .jpg. 

  • File Name - Save the file as FirstName_LastName_ArtworkTitle.jpg (example: Jane_Doe_YellowSunflowers.jpg)
    Important - Please do not use special characters  such as / ? < > \ : * | "  in the file names. 
    Also, the file name does not have to contain the full title of your painting. 

  • File Resolution - 300 PPI

  • File Dimensions - 1950 pixels height OR width, on the longest dimension

  • Maximum File Size - 5 MB

Q: What awards are being offered for this Show?

      • 1st Place - $500
      • 2nd Place - $300
      • 3rd Place - $200
      • 5 Awards of merit - $100 each
      • 5 Honorable Mention Awards - $50 each
      • $1,750 total awards

Q: Who is the Juror of Awards?

The Juror of Awards for this Show is the eminent artist, Susan Avis Murphy, AWS, NWS, BWS.
